Part 1: Cosmetic Acupuncture & Facial Cupping

With so many options available these days to help you rejuvenate your skin, it can be hard to know what’s best for you and your skin. Here at Neal’s Yard Remedies, we’re big advocates of the natural approach and we offer a range of facial treatments in our Therapy Rooms across the UK.

In this blog series, our talented therapists will be looking at some of the lesser-known natural treatments offered in our Therapy Rooms to help you age well. First up, cosmetic acupuncture and facial cupping.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture is rooted in traditional Chinese medicine and provides a natural, safe and non-invasive approach to beauty and ageing. As a natural rejuvenation treatment, tiny needles are placed in the skin on key acupuncture points, fine lines, areas of pigmentation and around scars. This triggers micro-traumas in the skin, signalling the body to send collagen, blood and Qi to the area and leaving you with plump, glowing skin. It also includes all the added benefits of a regular facial and a lifting style massage of the face, neck and shoulders. What makes it stand out from other cosmetic treatments, is that the whole body and your overall wellbeing will be addressed at the same time, enhancing the treatment and providing total balance and relaxation. So, it’s really like two treatments in one.

Facial Cupping

What is Facial Cupping?

Facial cupping has been part of oriental traditions for centuries, deeply rooted in Eastern healing systems and alternative medicine. This treatment has been growing in popularity recently due to its circulation and lymphatic drainage benefits.

Facial cupping uses high-quality glass or silicone cups with a gentle suction and soft gliding motion, to gently massage and lift tissues. The gentle suction creates controlled micro-traumas in the skin to encourage a natural healing process and oxygenated blood flow to the area. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated, and skin renewal encouraged.
